Amblyopia (lazy eyes)

Our eyes are actually an extension of our brain. When will looking an object, our eyes send the visual signal to the “vision center” (cortex) of our brain for processing, therefore, we can “see” and “read” the object. 

0 – 8 years old is a critical period for the development of our vision center. Any eyes problem will affect the visual signal and inhibit the develop of our “vision center”, result in amblyopia (lazy eye).

Causes of amblyopia

Congenital cataract, ptosis, strabismus (squint eye), high hyperopia, myopia or astigmatism are some of the causes of amblyopia. These eye problems will affect the visual quality of our eyes and finally affect the development of the vision center in our brain.


The treatment of amblyopia including wearing spectacles, surgery and visual training. It is important to diagnose and treat amblyopia as young as possible, otherwise treatment will be very difficult.
