Good habit can protect our eyes and vision

When reading……

  • Keep the reading distance 30cm or above
  • After 20 minutes reading, rest your eyes and look at far object (20 feet) for 20 seconds
  • Reading under adequate lighting environment
  • Do not read on moving vehicle
  • Prevent bright light or glare from the surface of reading materials

When watching TV……

  • Watching TV at a distance of 2m or above
  • After 20 minutes watching, rest your eyes and look at far object (20 feet) for 20 seconds
  • After 20 minutes watching, rest your eyes and look at far object (20 feet) for 20 seconds
  • Watching TV under a stable and good illumination environment

Using electric visual devices (smartphone, tablet PC and desktop computer)……

  • Suitable watching distant: 50~70cm
  • After 20 minutes using, rest your eyes and look at far object (20 feet) for 20 seconds
  • Using them under adequate lighting environment
  • Do not use them on moving vehicle
  • Prevent too bright background lighting
  • Prevent glare by adjusting the angle of viewing

Others…

  • Enough time of sleep, nutrition and outdoor activity
  • Wearing protective goggle for some sports( e.g. squash)
  • Wearing sunglasses during outdoor activities
  • Do not rub eyes, do blink eyes several times and close eyes for a while for any sudden eye discomfort
  • Keep children away from sharp objects and domestic chemical materials
  • Consult optometrist or ophthalmologist before using any eye drop

When swimming, how to protect your eyes from UV ray and eyes diseases (e.g. Red eye disease)?

  1. Wearing swimming goggle with UV ray blockage
  2. Rinse your body immediately after swimming
  3. Do not share towel with others
  4. Do not swimming in poor/unknown water condition area (e.g. mountain stream)
